Zsombor Eszenyi is a remarkably versatile young musician whose profile combines the artistry of a clarinet soloist with the perspective of a conductor. Currently completing his Master’s degree in clarinet at the Liszt Academy of Music while simultaneously pursuing orchestral conducting, he has already distinguished himself as one of the most awarded clarinetists of his generation.
He has appeared as soloist with leading Hungarian ensembles including the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra, the Duna Symphony Orchestra, the Gödöllő Symphony Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Budapest Strings. His concert engagements have taken him to major venues such as Müpa Budapest, the Liszt Academy, the Mozarteum, the Musikverein, and to international festivals such as Encuentro in Santander. He has also performed in Latvia, Spain, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Chile, and Japan.
Zsombor has won first prizes at numerous international competitions, among them the Carlino International Clarinet Competition, the Vienna and Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso Competitions, the European Clarinet Association Competition in Győr, and the International Clarinet Association’s Clareidoscope Competition, where he triumphed in three categories. He has been awarded a master instrument and the Young Artist title by the Czech maker RZ, and is a recipient of the Cziffra Festival Talent Prize, the Bank of China and Fischer Annie Scholarships. In 2022 he was honored with the Junior Prima Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for young Hungarian artists.
